Morphological identification of sea snakes

 

 

Sea snakes may be mistaken for fishes or terrestrial snakes:

 

a. Snake-like fish, note the typical fins and gills

b. Sea snake, the tail is laterally flatened

c. Terrestrial snake, the tail is normally round in crosssection
