Signs & symptoms

Local effects

Local pain and swelling (Jacobson 1937, Malkmus and Sauer 1993).

Other signs & symptoms 

Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and dyspnoea. These systemic symptoms first appeared ca. 2¼ h after the bite and continued to recur (Jacobson 1937) (autopharmacological/neurological effect?).

Case fatality rate

1 fatality (Harrison 1957). The death occurred in a child very shortly after the bite. No further details are available.
